NVIDIA is prepping the GeForce RTX 4070 Super for a retail launch in the coming weeks. It’ll be the first “Super” SKU to launch, followed by the RTX 4070 Ti Super and 4080 Super later this month. That said, the RTX 4070 has been doing well on its own. It was (and still is) among the bestselling GPUs on Amazon, Newegg, B&H, BestBuy, Microcenter, etc, through the holiday season. The latest Steam Hardware Survey also indicates it was the most widely adopted GPU among PC gamers.
The GeForce RTX 4070 saw the highest gains among Steam gamers through December, followed by the RTX 3060 and 4060. It gained +0.34% market share, bringing its overall share to 1.58%, overtaking the RTX 4060 (1.07%) but lagging behind the more established RTX 3060 (5.29%). The most popular AMD GPU was the Radeon RX 7900 XTX with a share of 0.32%, followed by the RX 6600 and the 6700 XT with 0.67% and 0.75% unit share, respectively.
The GeForce RTX 4070 is the bestselling graphics card at nearly every US retailer. At BestBuy, the ASUS variant of the card leads the sales charts with an MSRP of $649.99. Not quite the best buy.
On Newegg‘s bestselling chart, the GeForce RTX 3060 holds the top spot, followed by the RTX 4070 at #2. The retailer has priced the 70-class GPU at $549, $50 less than its official MSRP. I reckon this price will be made official following the 4070 Super launch.
The RTX 4070 is ranked #5, #7, and #8 among Amazon‘s bestselling graphics cards. The Gigabyte Windforce OC comes in at #5, the ASUS TUF Gaming OC at #7, and the ASUS Dual RTX 4070 OC Edition at #8. These are priced between $549 and $649 (TUF is overpriced as always).
Mindfactory (compiled by TechEpiphany) is the only retailer where the RX 7800 XT comes in first. Then again, these are the actual sales figures, not the sales rankings from a particular day.
Digitec is a Swiss retailer whose bestsellers’ chart is similar to Amazon’s. Here, the RTX 3060 comes in first, followed by three different variants of the RTX 4070 (Gigabyte Windforce OC, ASUS TUF Gaming OC, ASUS ProArt OC, and ASUS Dual OC) at #2, #3, and #4. Following them, we have the RTX 4070 Ti, RTX 4060, and the Radeon RX 7900 XTX.
