     <li><strong>Software resource contention:</strong> Locks and atomics can have much higher latency when accessed by many threads concurrently, adding to the memory pressure. False sharing can exacerbate this.</li>
     <li><strong>OS scheduling issues</strong>: An over-subscription of threads to active cores leads to a high number of context switches which can be expensive and can put extra pressure on the CPU memory subsystem. 
      <ul>
       <li>On systems with P/E cores, work is scheduled first to physical P cores, then E cores, and then hyperthreaded logical P cores. Using fewer threads than total physical cores enables background threads, such as OS threads, to execute on the E cores without disrupting critical threads running on P cores by executing on their sibling logical cores.</li>
      </ul></li>
     <li><strong>Power management</strong>: Reducing the number of threads can enable more cores to be parked, saving power and potentially allowing the remaining cores to run at a higher frequency. 
      <ul>
       <li>Core parking has been seen to be sensitive to high thread counts, causing issues with short bursty threads failing to trigger the heuristic to unpark cores. Having longer running, and fewer threads helps the core parking algorithms.</li>

    It might not be nice, but it might just be fair to call anyone who uses Google Chrome&apos;s Incognito Mode and then expects real privacy a &quot;rube,&quot; given that Google is a company that makes an incredible amount of money on selling other people&apos;s information. We&apos;re not saying that, though, and the reason is simply because Chrome didn&apos;t make it clear that &quot;Incognito Mode&quot; was about as useful as putting on a pair of Groucho glasses when making a trip to the adult novelty shop.</p>

    <p>So let&apos;s be explicit about what &quot;Incognito Mode&quot; does: it disables Chrome&apos;s own functions for saving browsing data, and it doesn&apos;t allow sites to save cookies on your machine. That is basically it. In other words, it won&apos;t save passwords or autofill data, it won&apos;t record sites you visit to your browsing history, and it won&apos;t save logins or other information you enter on websites. That&apos;s all it does. 
      </p>

     <p>
    This isn&apos;t really news to tech-savvy users, but most people don&apos;t fall into that category. When they click that &quot;Incognito Mode&quot; button, a lot of people have an inflated expectation of what it is doing to protect their privacy. Chrome does present a disclaimer on the initial Incognito Mode screen, but that disclaimer didn&apos;t clarify that Google is still capable of tracking and recording every single site you visit&#x2014;until now, anyway.

    Indeed, in the latest Canary (read: nightly) builds of Chrome, the disclaimer has been changed, as spotted by <em>MSPowerUser</em>. Where the current disclaimer in stable and dev builds states that &quot;you can browse privately, and other people who use this device won&apos;t see your activity&quot;, the new disclaimer is very explicit that &quot;this won&apos;t change how data is collected by the websites you visit and the services they use, including Google.&quot; Indeed, while we called out Google above, the search giant is far from the only company tracking your movements across the web, and Incognito or &apos;private&apos; modes in browsers generally do very little to diminish that. 
      </p><br>

    So what prompted the change of heart? Probably the $5 billion dollar lawsuit over exactly this issue that the company has agreed to settle out of court. If anything can change a megacorporation&apos;s tune real fast, it&apos;s paying out millions or billions of dollars in legal fees. Of course, that does nothing to resolve the fact that the very money the company is using to settle the lawsuit probably originates from selling people&apos;s information, but what can you do?

    We&apos;re starting to sound like a broken record (or a buffering stream, if you&apos;re not old enough to remember vinyl), but there are factors at play that could drive up system memory and solid-state drive (SSD) prices throughout 2024. After several consecutive quarters of declines in DRAM and NAND flash memory prices, chip makers find themselves staring at a rebound, with hopes of sustaining a price rally for the full year.

  <p>Microsoft plans to deliver a feature update for Windows 10 and Windows 11 once a year. However, the developers have provided the option of rolling out innovations to the user interface or applications out of sequence as so-called feature drops or moment packages with regular updates.</p>

  <p>In December 2023, there were reports of a feature drop update in early 2024.    <li>For Europe, Microsoft primarily wants to implement the changes to Windows 11 that are required for compliance with the EU Digital Markets Act (DMA). e.g. the Edge browser should be uninstallable.</li>
   <li>Microsoft seems to be working on upgrades to some of the accessibility features built into Windows 11, improvements to Windows 365 cloud PC integration, and the ability to remove messages from the Widgets Board and Bing from the Windows Search pane.</li>
   <li>Microsoft could replace Windows 11&apos;s default wallpapers with dynamic Spotlight wallpapers, is planning an option to add friendly device names for the operating system&apos;s Nearby Share feature and, of course, will introduce or improve AI features across the board.
